CANON T3i Has Arrived

From DP Review:

"Last month Canon unveiled the Rebel T3i (EOS 600D) upper entry-level DSLR. It continues to use the 18MP CMOS sensor seen in the Rebel T2i (550D) but gains a tilt and swivel 1,040k dot LCD monitor like the one offered on the more expensive 60D. It also gains the ability to remotely control flashguns using its internal flash, a feature previously only featured on higher-end models. Alongside the camera, Canon is also launching the 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS II, a cosmetically revised version of its optically stabilized kit lens. We've had a chance to use pre-production versions of both and have prepared a Hands-On Preview of the EOS 600D including beta samples gallery."

Magix Bullet Grinder Adds Some Nice Features To Update 1.5

Magic Bullet Grinder is the smartest way to transcode DSLR/HDSLR footage. Grinder converts Canon video to edit-friendly formats, burns in timecode and generates web-resolution proxies in a single time-saving pass. Version 1.5 adds new features directly from customer requests, which include important Apple ProRes codecs, timecode from camera EXIF data, new 25p conform frame rate, and render priority control. Take the tedium out of transcoding and get to the editing you love.

There's A New "Post Resource" Website On The Block

Motionleague.com

The Motion League was formed in early 2011 when six guys on Twitter joked about forming a superhero league of motion designers. Many @replies & bad jokes about “The Subdivider” and Rorschach masks later, we decided to start a little slower and get a website going first. And here we are.

The goal of The Motion League is fairly simple: to be a premiere resource for motion designers of all abilities. There are really two wings to the site: a blog and a community forum. The blog features original articles, interviews, and tutorials; links to inspiration from around the web and beyond; and showcases great talent that doesn’t normally get seen. The forum is a place for motion designers to talk shop, get feedback on their work, ask questions, and help each other out.

The Color Of Indie

From Film Independent:

A few months back I was having a conversation with a friend and we both wondered why African American Indie Cinema seems a bit vacant these days.  Actually, it isn't vacant at all. I learned that when I had my second official Meetup for Cinefile and seven of the twelve filmmakers that showed were African American.  Filmmaker Ava DuVernay pens an interesting piece for Hope For Film about the subject.

"I may incorrectly assume that most of Ted’s readers have never heard of AFFRM, or I WILL FOLLOW, or the excellent black film orgs that make up the African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement—for which AFFRM stands.

Why do I think that? Because we haven’t cracked that American indie establishment circle. You know, the Tribeca-Indiewire-IFP-FilmIndependent-SXSW-Lincoln Center of it all. The gate-keepers to the mainstream indie treasures. We haven’t had their attention. So we might’ve slipped by you."

Incredible Time-Lapse, Tilt-Shift Remix Of Rear Window, by Jeff Desom

Rear Window Remix

This is an astonishing video and if you're a fan of the film it makes it even more astonishing knowing how he put this together in such a beautiful, seamless remix of scenes from the amazing set Hitchcock had designed. This is a real treat. It's the best thing I've seen on Vimeo in a while.
