Apologies not needed, my friend. Hope all is well. Any videos of your work you can share?

Giving it one final look over but the script is done. About four full drafts and a lot of tweaks but the final page count is 100 pages. Down from 110. Was trying to get it as close to 90 pages as possible because an indie film over 90 minutes can be a bit much for anyone. I figured I'd keep it as is now and shoot it and then in editing I'll shave off what I don't need. Hard to tell now and I don't want to lose any character moments. Best to get them in the can and decide later.

RIchard, what's the title, genre? Do tell! Is this the project you have producers backing already?

Got a new client for work which is great. I needed it badly so there should be a year of videos to keep me busy. It also gives me the chance to put more money into the film which is good since I need one major location that I think I will need to spend some money on to get. A lot slower than I had hoped but it's all coming together.

Such a crazy couple of weeks. Can't get into specifics but a studio is interested in making one of my films. Doing some audio tweaks to my last film and getting things together to start shooting my new film. My head is spinning going from one project to the other. Actually referred to one of the projects by the wrong name in a conversation the other day.

Rich! What awesome news! When will you know if this is final? I'm hoping we can help promote you and the film if it happens.

Gearing up for a shoot this weekend. Directing, shooting, and editing a promotional trailer for a friend. Should be really fun. Will post more details soon.

Be sure to let me know when you need to start getting some promotion out there for Dark Light.

Richarddiaz at 12/8/10 8:19 p.m.

It's a teaser trailer to raise money for a short film. It's for a friend of mine. She asked me if I could help her. Far be it from me to say no to a friend in need.

Dark Light is coming along great! Thanks!! Locking the locations. At least best I can. Most people wanted to talk after the holidays. Doing a major script rewrite in the meantime and I think it's a lot better. Still not sure how I'm going to do half of it but if it's not going to be a challenge then it's not worth doing. lol

Mike at 12/7/10 10:11 a.m.

Very cool. This is a trailer for a feature? How do you get such cool gigs? How's Dark Light going?

I blogged about it over at my mindless movie blog but 'A Serbian Film' will be getting a US release. So now you guys can decide for yourself. If you have the stomach to sit through it. Definitely not for the timid.

I'd argue that this film is not shock for shock sake. There is a reason why it goes as far as it goes. It's like making a film about the Nazi's but never showing any of the atrocities they committed. It's a choice the filmmakers made to go all out. That can be debated. Personally I understand why they decided to go as graphic as they did. And this isn't a US film. It's Serbian. It just acquired a US distributor which I was surprised by. I didn't think anyone was going to touch it. I will say that most people shouldn't watch it because of its extreme nature. The film though is actually pretty brilliant and extremely well made. It's one of my favorites of the year. Just hard to recommend it to other people unless I know they can handle it.

Unfortunately, in the U.S., torture porn has replaced the classical, elemental horror scheme.

Casanegra at 11/14/10 10:03 a.m.

The whole premise of it is brutal. I'm love the genre but when it gets this extreme it loses me. Hardcore shock just to shock has always seemed a somewhat adolescent approach to me. Not to sound snobby.

Finally got a new camera which I will be using to shoot my next film with. As much as I'm looking forward to the new Panasonic camera, the AF100, I wanted a P2 camera so I went with the HPX170 which I am really excited about.

Sounds good. I will try and connect.

Richarddiaz at 11/13/10 8:22 p.m.

Actually a work shoot came up so my week just got filled up. Helps pay for the camera though. lol But the following week I should have a lot of time.

Mike at 11/11/10 1:03 a.m.

Hey Rich, I would love to get that AF100 too. Saw footage of the HPX.. looks awesome. Hope you get a lot out of it. How are things with your projects? We should connect by phone asap. I would live to chat about some "movie making" stuff. Are you available early next week?

Had a great time at the Horror Society Film Festival over the weekend!! My friend's film 'Slices Of Life' premiered which was great! Saw 'Demons' on the big screen which was a geek moment for me. And yes, I saw the infamous 'A Serbian Film' which lives up to its reputation.

Had a great time at the Music Box Massacre this past weekend. Doing more pre-production on the film including scouting locations. Plus getting ready for the Horror Society Film Festival in two weeks at the Portage theatre. Everyone should go as the line up is incredible!

I'm sorry you won't be there but we should connect soon. I'm tied up on a shoot the next few days and then the festival this weekend. Beyond that I'm mainly just prepping the film so my schedule is more flexible.

Mike at 10/19/10 10:59 a.m.

Unfortunately, I do not believe I'm going to make it. However, we should connect asap. When you get time let me know your availability. thx!

Richarddiaz at 10/15/10 1:39 a.m.

I am shooting it locally. In and around Chicago. Let me know if you're going to be at the Horror Society event. I'll be there the whole weekend so just let me know when you're going. :-)

Had a great time tonight with the stunt group. Had a lot of them sign up to do stunts for my film. So excited!! On a side note, anyone going to the Music Box Massacre this weekend? If so be sure to say hi. :-)

The Massacre was so much fun! And once again I made it without sleeping. My tradition still stands. lol

I'm working with Asylum Stunts. They're going to do some of the stunts and fight choreography in the film. I worked with them before and they are just great.

Casanegra at 10/6/10 1:33 p.m.

Music Box Massacre!? That sounds like a fantastic movie title. Also, Stunts? I love stunts. Tell me more about your stunt group. Are you making a movie with stunts?

Marco at 10/6/10 10:56 a.m.

Won't be able to make it. Damn, wish I could though. I would love to see Wolfman and The Raven on the big screen.
