Michael founded the Cinefile platform after identifying new trends within the motion picture industry, particularly within Independent Cinema. He saw there is a need for a dynamic platform that could be focused exclusively on encouraging interaction and dialogue to help grow and support an evolving motion picture scene within new media. Michael has also provided marketing and design consulting for motion picture companies both online and offline.
Nelson Carvajal is an independent digital filmmaker and writer based out of Chicago, Illinois. His experimental short films, video essays and video installations have been featured at the South Loop Film Festival, the Fractured Lens Video Festival & the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival. Carvajal also served as a writing intern for the AV Club and wrote for the 44th Chicago Internatioanal Film Festival. Nelson is a passionate supporter of the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) approach to creating new media cinema and content.
Alicia Ontiveros is a producer and writer with a background in television and web video production. Her experience includes network television programs airing on The History Channel, National Geographic, The Animal Planet, The Weather Channel, The Biography Channel, PBS and others. Alicia blogs about sustainability and hosts live web events around the net, connecting people with the resources they need to do good for the world. She also likes to support filmmakers out there taking risks to tell meaningful stories, so tell her what you're up to!
Michael Tenzer is a film writer and the in-house composer for Ready Freddy Films. Graduating from Columbia College Chicago in 2008, Michael combined his writing abilities, musical skills and education in art/media management to pursue a multi-faceted career in the film industry. Michael has been able to pursue a respectable career as a freelancer, writing about music and movies for a number of internet publications including Cinefile, Pensatos, Sloth Jockey and Feel the Word. He's composed music for several short films and a low-budget feature film as well.
Lindsay graduated from Northwestern University in 2008. As one of the key faces of the Cinefile website she brings excellent PR experience and a strong understanding of self promotion. Working to form strategic partnerships and spread awareness about our mission and platform, Lindsay is instrumental in helping us to foster our regional audience. Lindsay also identifies strongly with new industry trends, which are the backbone of our network.
